CHAPTER 1 ~ DAVID
Saw You From The Distance
David had finally found an empty room. He turned on the lights, and closed the door gently behind him. For two hours he had been trapped in a whirlwind of camera flashes, questions, and tons of paparazzi. He made his way over to the brown leather couch and plopped down as he pulled out his phone ready to send a tweet to update his fans on what was happening. In less than an hour he was opening for the band Cornerstone in Asia. They were the biggest band in Asia and it was such an honor to even be asked to be in their presence, let alone to be touring with them!
Suddenly he heard a large commotion, and it seemed to be coming from ... the window? He cautiously tiptoed towards the wall-wide window, afraid of what he might encounter. The window looked out onto the indoor courtyard down below, and what David saw shocked him. “Oh my gosh! It’s like they’re an army or something! An arch army! Haha ” In a sea of people, panning from left the right, all he saw was a mob of white Archie t-shirts and short shorts. “Where’s my sharpies when I need them? Sheesh...” His eye rested on a pretty brunette. Apparently she didn’t get the wardrobe memo, or if she did - she didn’t care. A smirk lit up on his face. There were some conservative girls left in the world. Glancing quickly at his watch he realized it was time for wardrobe and makeup. Ugh, how he hated that stuff! It made his skin feel like cupcake icing. Good thing he didn’t need too much of that gunk.
Watching the scene before him, he could feel a song idea appearing in his mind. “I better take a picture - for future inspiration...” He quickly glanced out the window shocked that the brunette was now staring at the window. “Good thing this window is only one sided! I can see them, but they can’t see me! I better get going though if I’m going to be on time...” And he exited as quietly as he had entered, excited for the future.

CHAPTER 2 ~ SAVANNAH
It’s a Love Story
Savannah glanced around as she took in her surroundings. She was amidst a sea of conformity. Her eyes drifted upward and rested on a familiar looking shadow behind a window on the second floor. She looked away for a moment as she self-consciously pulled her fingers through her hair. A split-second flash prompted her to glance back up at the window – but no one was there. “I’m just seeing things,” she told herself, “I wonder how a picture would look from way up there… it must be funny to see everyone wearing the same thing, well, except for me.” Savannah had chosen a sophisticated yet youthful sleeveless dress. On top of the black and white chic dress she wore an elegant short sleeve vest which covered the shoulders, and accentuated her modest side. Pressing shuffle on her iPod nano “Somebody Out There” came through her headphones as a flashback reflected on her journey on making it to FINALLY see David live in concert.
The subject of family had always been a touchy one for Savannah. When she was only a mere 6 months old she had moved from Asia to Canada with her parents. The rest of the family still lived in Asia and Savannah had only been back to visit a few times; but they still didn’t feel like family. It didn’t help that her parents were so preoccupied with their health, work, money, and family overseas, that they never paid any attention to her. Even kids at school treated her like an alien just because of her outward appearance. At home she thought she looked fine, but outside he got caught in the compare snare. She knew these “problems” were miniscule compared to what millions of less fortunate people had to go through – but it still got to her. It annoyed her that no one could see past her exterior. Then when David came along… From the second he opened his mouth she knew he was different, And throughout the Idol competition as she learned more about him, the more he inspired her with his voice, talent, character, personality and phenomenal humility. David couldn’t have come into her life at a better time. At least twice a week she thought about suicide. Either her parents couldn’t hear, or didn’t understand what she had to say, and no one else was around to help her carry the pain. She was carrying the whole world on her shoulders. Alone. After David came along however and hearing about his miraculous recovery from vocal paralysis and his unshaken faith throughout his trials and tribulations – how could anyone NOT have a changed view on life?
This summer her parents had dragged her to Asia to get to know “the fam”. Well she was devastated. She had big plans for the summer: road trips, college scouting in Cali (maybe sneaking in a concert or two… *shhh – don’t tell her parents* ) – but now all her dreams were crushed. The only opportunity she ever could have to maybe meet David were gone. Thrown away like an old useless tool. Her dreams, her hopes, all accounted for nothing. Nothing at all. When she found out that David was coming to Asia she just couldn’t believe it!!! DAVID ARCHULETA COMING TO ASIA?!?!!?!? WHAT WERE THE CHANCES!?!?!?! And now, in less than a half an hour, she could possibly meet him, if he even noticed her in this crowd. Oh gosh, tonight, she might meet her hero and be able to tell him personally how he had affected her life… but would he be any different than the rest?
The sound of the door opening snapped her back to reality. “10 minutes!” the security guard yelled. The crowd went CRAZY. “DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID! DAVID!” The chanting seemed to get louder with each repeat, and the crowd seemed to be closing in on her. “I have to get out. Maybe I should make a pit stop at the washroom. I don’t want to miss a minute of David’s concert!” She made her way through the crowd and breathed a sigh of relief as she opened the door. It led to a long and narrow hallway with the washrooms at the very end. She made her journey down the hallway and as she neared the girls’ washroom sign she noticed a lone figure sitting on the floor with his back against the wall. He was looking the other direction so the quietly tried to tiptoe to the washroom without him noticing. Hey, wait a minute! Wasn’t that… ? Oh gosh, she couldn’t meet him like this! She looked down and clumsily tried to make her way to the washroom, so she didn’t notice anything until…oof. She had crashed into well… let’s just say her face was nested between a bony and soft spot… his…neck?!? She took a sharp breath and realized that her mouth was still on skin. Someone else’s skin. She embarrassedly jerked herself back and immediately felt the strength of manly yet soft hands on her shoulders – steadying her. A hot flash made its way all over her body as she looked up into the eyes of her rescuer. Wow. The most gorgeous eyes stared back at her… mixed in a pool of kindness and intensity…

CHAPTER 3 ~ DAVID
There’s No Sense of Time
Intensity. That was the only word David could think of to describe her eyes. They seemed to go on forever and ever splashing forth into eternity. “Oh gosh, I’m so sorry! My big feet always getting in the way; well actually I can never seem to stop talking! I keep rambling and I can’t stop! Anyways, uhm … I’m David.” Savannah looked up and smiled radiantly. “Oh yea, I know, I’m here to see your concert actually. I’m a HUGE fan, and you have inspired me so much, and there are just no words to describe the journey that I’ve…”
BEEP. David had gotten a tweet from Ray. “5 minutes and you’re on!” David interrupted her. “So, uh, what are you doing after this?” “Well, there’s this really attractive singer, he’s really passionate about singing and it’s so magical to watch. I’m actually going to his concert after this. Perhaps you’ve heard of him? David Archuleta’s the name.” A blush crept up on David’s cheeks as he realized she was talking about him. “ He’s not that attractive.” His glowing smile warming the room, “Hey, um, if you’re not busy after the concert; there’s an after party…” The sound of a door opening cut David off. “David, if they scream for you any louder they’re going to bring down the coliseum!” Ray pulled him away but not before David could blurt out. “After the concert. Meet me backstage.”

CHAPTER 4 ~ SAVANNAH
What We Had Was So Special
“Meet me backstage”. Those three words. What the heck did they mean? David must be so busy and have so many things on his mind, would he really make time for me? To meet me backstage? With all these thoughts running around in her mind she rushed to the first concert of her life. “Welcome Asia! Thanks to everyone that came out tonight!” The band started to play thinking that David had finished. “Wait! I was going to say something, aw man I forgot what it was now! Gosh, I’m sorry! I’m just a bit flustered right now. Something really weird just happened, but I guess everything happens for a reason right?” He gave the audience as well as the band a sheepish smile, and as he started his first song a millions things were going through Savannah’s mind. ‘Why was he flustered? Could it be from our little collision? Or the fact that he invited me to his ... wait, did he really invite me to his AFTERPARTY?!? He probably regrets inviting me, he doesn’t even know mel... but what if he really did invite me because he wanted me there? Gosh, guys are so confusing!’ By this time Savannah hadn’t realized that she had been pushed to the front row, but David’s voice brought her to reality. “I can see it in your eyes; you feel the same way about us as I...” Whoa. Their eyes connected, a shiver generating from head to toe. “So thank you for showing me with one look what used to be and still is a possibility. “ Savannah couldn’t take her eyes off him, and it seemed to be with same way with him too. “Your eyes don’t lie. “ David finished the song, but didn’t seem to notice the clapping and cheering. His eyes were still transfixed on one particular person in the audience. A confused look filled his face as he realized there were more than two people in the room.
Savannah felt her throat getting dry, so she took a sip of water and almost choked when she realized that David was driving from one of his five bottles on stage at the exact same time that she was! She gave him a shy smile and he returned a wink. “Before I sing this last song, I just wanted to thank everyone again for coming out tonight. Your support is really appreciated, and I hope you guys had fun!” The opening chords to “Touch My Hand” began and the crowd went wild. Like a tornado the thoughts in Savannah’s mind began to whirl round and round. ‘This was his last song. Should she meet him backstage?’ She shook her head to clear her thoughts! ‘Pay attention girl! You’re at David’s concert! Take everything in! Enjoy the moment!’ He was coming down the row his hand extended. Just a few more steps and he would be in front of her! He gave her a smile as he passed by her. Wait a minute... why did he skip over my hand? And why the smile? Then he was what? At her? He was pointing at her! “The one that’s shining out so bright is the one right where you are.” There was that flirtatious smile again! Did he know what an emotional roller coaster he was sending her on? She was pretty bummed that he didn’t touch her hand though. ‘Girl! What are you complaining about? Did you forget what just happened in the hallway? He touched more than just your hand!’ He was nearing the end of the song. He positioned himself in front of Savannah and reached out to her. “Trying to reach out to you, touch my hand yea yea” He was still holding her hand, and in a split-second, before she knew what was happening, he jumped down from the stage and pulled Savannah along, running through the crowd until they were backstage, alone.
